**TIMMINS SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA NEWS RELEASE**

This Friday, the Timmins Symphony Orchestra (TSO) will share the stage with the 2019 Juno nominated Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra (TBSO) for an evening of symphonic masterpieces.

To be held Feb. 1 at École Secondaire Catholique Thériault’s Charles Fournier Auditorium, the two orchestras will join forces to present several classical favourites by Dvorak, Elgar, Rossini, and more.  As an added treat, the fully-professional TBSO will present Felix Mendelssohn’s Symphony no. 4.  It will be a night of unforgettable and exciting music performed by high-caliber musicians.

“This is a rare opportunity for the community to hear a fully professional orchestra, having only recently been nominated for a Juno Award, here in our home town,” said Josh Wood, Music Director for the Timmins Symphony Orchestra. “Conductor for the Thunder Bay Symphony, Melanie Leonard brings a dynamic and incendiary flair with her direction and the members of the Timmins Symphony are very excited to partner with her.”

In continuing with the TSO’s 40-year celebrations, both the TBSO and TSO will kick-off the performance with an arrangement by Wood himself entitled TSO 40th Season Fanfair.

Tickets are available as of Dec. 1 at the Timmins Museum, NEC and can also be purchased at the door. A reception will follow immediately after the concert in the school’s cafeteria.
