**TIMMINS POLICE SERVICE NEWS RELEASE**


On Tuesday November 27th, Timmins Police Service – Drug Enforcement Unit officers commenced an investigation involving the alleged trafficking of controlled substances in the Timmins area.

The investigation involved a traffic stop which eventually led to the execution of two search warrants in the city of Timmins that same day.

Based on grounds afforded to the officers under the Controlled Drug and Substances Act, the traffic stop yielded the seizure of 1.5 grams of suspected heroin and 3 methamphetamine tablets with a street value of $930.00.

A search warrant was executed at a room of a Riverside Drive hotel in Timmins which led to the seizure of:
– 3.8 grams of suspected carfentanyl,
– 2 ¼ fentanyl patches
– $15000 in Canadian currency.

The street value of the controlled substances seized is pegged at $3500.00.

A second search warrant was executed at an apartment on Riverpark Road, in Timmins, which led to the seizure of:
– 98 grams of methamphetamine tablets
– 136.6 grams of suspected Carfentanyl
– 18 (100 microgram) fentanyl patches
– 10 grams of suspected heroin

The total street value of the controlled substances is estimated at $126,080.00.

As a result of this investigation, Amir ABDELRAHMAN, 54 of Toronto has been charged with:
– 6 counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act
– 1 count Possession of Proceeds of Crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

Additionally, Raheem ABDELRAHMAN, 21 of Toronto has been charged with:
– 6 counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act
– 1 count Possession of Proceeds of Crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

Additionally, Scott MORRIS, 45 of Timmins has been charged with:
– Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act
– Possession of a Controlled Substance contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act
– Fail to Comply with Recognizance contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

All three men remain in police custody awaiting a bail hearing that has been remanded to Friday November 30th at Provincial Court in Timmins.

**UPDATE**

The Timmins Police Service has charged a Cochrane man stemming from its ongoing investigation into alleged drug activity that resulted in the execution of search warrants in Timmins earlier this week.

Based on his alleged participation in the occurrence which yielded the seizure of nearly $130,000 (street value) of illicit controlled substances, Christopher CHEENA, 40, of Timmins, has been charged with 4 counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act.

The accused remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning (Nov 30th) at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against him.
