It’s that time of year again. Time to get your tickets for the Cochrane District Crime Stoppers’ 24 Days of Christmas Draw.

The annual draw is the Cochrane District Crime Stoppers’ big fundraiser for the year, and this year promises some big prizes for the winners.

There will be 24 draws starting on December 1st going right through to Christmas Eve. This year, each draw will have a value of over $150, thanks to Fountain Tire.

“One of our biggest donors this year,” said Eric Poulin, Treasurer for the Cochrane District Crime Stoppers, “and we’re really thankful to have them kick in, is Fountain Tire. Based on their donation, all of our prizes who we’re saying started at $100 a piece, now start at $150. They’ve kicked in 24 gift certificates for $150 a piece for vehicle service. So we’re really thankful to have them.”

Some of the other prizes include a Will and Testament package from Maisonneuve & Associates, a travel bag from Day Star Stitching, a $500 travel voucher from Northern College and Worldwide Travel, luggage from Beaches and Dreams Travel, plus lots of gift cards, hand crafted items and pre-paid credit cards.

“[There’s] something for everybody,” Poulin said, “There’s not one prize that nobody would really want to get their hands on.”

Tickets for the 24 Days of Christmas draw started selling in September and will be sold until the end of November. There are 2,500 tickets this year and they’re going fast so be sure to get yours before it’s too late. Tickets are being sold at Alfie’s Cigar Store on Third Ave. and at McDonald’s Pharmacy in South Porcupine. You can also get tickets from any of the Crime Stoppers Board Members, plus the Cochrane Crime Stoppers will be at the Christmas Craft Show coming up in a couple weeks. Tickets are $5 for one and $10 for three.

Daily draws for the 24 Days of Christmas start on December 1st. You can learn more by going to the Cochrane District Crime Stoppers Facebook Page.

“We really appreciate all of our donors,” said Poulin, “we have a lot of them around the community. Everything that we raise out of this fundraiser, 100% of it stays within the community.”

Poulin added that the program is no funded by the government, but is run with volunteers.

“We run 100% on volunteers and on donations,” he said, “and the money raised goes to pay for tip rewards and a few other things we have going on. So we’re really very appreciative of the support of the community and the businesses within the community as well.”

Be sure to get your tickets to the Cochrane District Crime Stoppers’ 24 Days of Christmas Draw and join the fun while helping the community.
