**THE LIVING SPACE NEWS RELEASE**


The purpose of World Homeless Day is to draw attention to homeless people’s needs locally and provide opportunities for the community to get involved in responding to homelessness, while educating people about homeless issues, celebrating and supporting local good works and highlighting local issues.

All events are tentatively scheduled and to be confirmed within the coming weeks. Registration is free, however you will be invoiced for the Community Feedback Forum if you register and do not cancel at minimum three days in advance. Thank you for your understanding!

Donations of food and money will be collected at each event.

Community Feedback Forum – Porcupine Dante Club – 10:00AM – 2:00 pm
Featuring presentations on: 2018 Timmins Enumeration from Dr. Carol Kauppi, Putting the Pieces Togegther: Developing a Community Plan by Jason Sereda from the Homeless Coalition of Timmins, and, Timmins Youth Wellness Hubs Progress and Updates by Anne Vincent. This event is limited to 100 people.

Soup and Sandwich Making – Timmins Native Friendship Centre – 3 pm
This intergeneration workshop will bring Elders, youth and those with currently experiencing homelessness together to make a delicious vegetable soup and sandwiches. Facilitated by Victoria Hall from the Porcupine Health Unit and Yves Duguay. This event is limited to 40 people.

Living Space Grand Opening, Donor Recognition and Memorial – Living Space (27 Cedar Street North) – 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Join funders, government officials, Living Space staff and committee members in this grand opening ceremony. We will be thanking our contributors. We will be hosting a memorial for lives that have been lost. This event is limited to 50 people.

Homelessness Experience Sleepover – Gilles Lake (behind MRCA) – 6:00 pm – 6:00 am
Students and chaperons are invited to attend this event, alongside service providers, in order to experience Homelessness for one cold evening. Students will take part in a scavenger hunt activity to build their own shelter. Services providers will be on site. Soup and sandwiches will be served in the evening. This event is limited to 200 people.
