**TIMMINS POLICE SERVICE NEWS RELEASE**


The Timmins Police Service responded to a call for service in regards to a theft of wallet from an unlocked car on September 15th.

One of the credit cards in the stolen wallet was used to make a series of purchases at various retailers throughout the city of Timmins.

Based on investigative measures undertaken by the Timmins Police Service, a suspect was identified.

The suspect was located early this morning in a residential area in the south side of Timmins.

A Timmins Police Service officer recognized the male person as the suspect in the incidents involving the fraudulent use of a stolen credit card.

The male suspect was approached by the police and is alleged to have provided a false name to the interviewing officer. The suspect was eventually arrested and taken into police custody.

A search of the suspect upon arrest yielded the discovery of suspected methamphetamines and suspected oxycodone tablets on his person..

Garrett RICKARD, 24, of Timmins, has been arrested and charged with:
– Possession of Property Obtained by Crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Two counts of Fraudulent Use of Credit Card contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act

The accused remains in police custody while awaiting a Bail Hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against him.
