(TIMMINS) – The Timmins Police responded to an early morning incident outside a local tavern in the downtown core of Timmins.
Upon arrival at the scene, Timmins Police officers located 2 men who had been assaulted by a third male party and who managed to restrain the suspect while awaiting police to attend.
Statements from the victims were collected by the Timmins Police Service officers in keeping with their investigation into the altercation which involved an edged weapon allegedly being brandished by the suspect.
Sheldon SPENCE, 21, of no fixed address has been arrested and charged with:
– Common Assault contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Assault with a Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Resist Peace Officer contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Fail to Comply with Recognizance (3 counts) contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
The accused has been held in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated to take place this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins.
