**DSB ONE MEDIA RELEASE**

District School Board Ontario North East is proud to welcome three new student trustees for the 2018-2019 school year. Two of the student trustees have been elected by the Student Senate, while an Indigenous student trustee has been appointed by the Board.
 
Noble Stow-Gore is a student at Temiskaming District Secondary School, who will be moving into Grade 12 in the Fall. Noble has a passion for all Science classes, but also relishes his Automotive and Manufacturing classes.
 
“I am extremely excited about being able to advocate for the students of District School Board Ontario North East,” says Noble. “Student voice is especially important this upcoming year because there could be a shift in government, which could provide us, as students, new opportunities to push initiatives that will benefit the collective needs of the students. I’m looking forward to developing policies that would hopefully be implemented in our Board.”
 
Danielle Beaudoin is a pupil at Kirkland Lake District Composite School, who will be moving into Grade 12 in the Fall. Danielle’s favourite subjects are Biology, Social Sciences, and English.
 
“I cannot wait to begin my journey in representing the student body throughout the Board, as I am passionate about student equality and well-being,” says Danielle. “I think the most important issue facing our students today is student well-being and mental health. The state of feeling comfortable, healthy and happy in school should be a commonality among all students. If appropriate services are put in place to support a young person’s mental health needs, success can be maximized, and negative impacts for students can be minimized.”
 
Chloey Frank, who will take on the role of Indigenous Student Trustee, also attends Kirkland Lake District Composite School, and will be entering Grade 12 in September. Chloey’s favourite subjects in school are Art, Drama and Indigenous Studies.
 
“What excites me most about taking on the role of Indigenous Student Trustee is the chance to start making change happen for the Indigenous students within our Board,” says Chloey. “I look forward to listening to my peers and helping them feel comfortable in their classes and activities. Personally, I think that the Student Senate is going to make a huge difference in giving us more inside details into all of the schools within District School Board Ontario North East.”
 
“We congratulate all of the nominees, as well as our Student Senate who participated in the selection process of our new student trustees,” says Director of Education, Lesleigh Dye. “We are very proud to welcome Danielle, Chloey and Noble. We have confidence that they will fulfill their duties to bring the student voice to the Student Senate, and ultimately the Board table.”
 
“We applaud and look forward to working with Danielle, Chloey and Noble,” adds Board Chair, Bob Brush. “We also thank our outgoing student representatives Jaykob Walton, Aiza Asif and Brianna Julien for their tireless work during the year in setting up our brand new Student Senate. Their work has left an indelible mark on our Board.”
 
The first meeting of the Board of Trustees for the 2018-2019 school year is slated for Tuesday, September 4th.
