Heart disease and stroke take a life every seven minutes. Sadly, it’s safe to say we have all been touched by it. The magic of the Big Bike is that it brings people together for far more than just a simple bike ride – it unites every rider as they pedal towards a shared goal: to give Canadian’s more of life’s previous moments.
WHEN:    Wednesday May 9th from 1:30pm to 2:30pm

WHERE:  The Heart & Stroke Big Bike will depart from Wacky Wings

WHO:      March of Dimes will be participating in this year’s Big Bike in Timmins.

Amanda Chartrand, Stroke Community Navigator, for the Post Stroke Transitional Care program, along with her March of Dimes team, will be riding in honor of their client, Nicole, who suffered a stroke just over a year ago. Nicole was working a high stress job that may have led to her hemorrhagic brain bleed. Soon after being discharged from the hospital, she found herself in the March of Dimes transitional care program where she began her rehabilitation process through counselling, physical exercises and mindfulness exercises. Nicole is happy to be participating in this year’s Big Bike event, “I am so happy that I am physically capable of riding the Big Bike this year. I am participating to help support survivors of heart disease and stroke, like me.”

Together, with the Big Bike team riders and generous event sponsors, Heart & Stroke helps fund a vibrant research community to enable medical breakthroughs and better health for Canadians. Visit bigbike.ca to learn more.
