The Heart of Gold triathlon is into its 13th year, and it looks stronger than ever.

Residents of all ages and fitness levels are welcome to challenge themselves in a number of categories, whether it’s the traditional sprint triathlon or duathlon.  It all starts at 8am at Gillies Lake, with check in and race bib pick up starting at 7am.

For kids, there’s age categories and life jackets and kick boards are available for ages 8-9.

There’s still time to sign up as well.  Officials will host a last chance sign up event at the Gillies Lake beach from 2-4pm on Saturday.

Residents not participating, but are driving in the area are advised to use caution, as part of the course requires participants to cross Algonquin at Brunette Road.
