**UPDATE 10:00am**

Hydro One says at their peak, around 11,000 homes in Timmins were without power.  Power now seems to be returning, with about 6,000 people remaining in the dark according to the “Hydro One StormCenter.

**ORIGINAL POST 8:30am**

About 7,800 homes are without power to start Christmas Eve in Timmins (as of 8:30am).

Hydro One says the wind is wreaking havoc on power lines, and hydro crews are out in full force to assess and fix any damage.

Across Ontario, around 44,000 are seeing blackouts.

Hydro One adds there is no timeline to when power will be fully restored.

Meantime, Timmins Police say there are reports of downed power lines, and many stoplights are out across the city.

They say to treat traffic lights as four-way stops if they’re out or flashing red, adding to slow down and watch for icy roads as the city drops in temperature later on in the afternoon.

We’ll have more details on the power outages as we get them.
