preston_algonquinSeniors at the Preston Apartments want more time to cross the street.

In a letter to city council, they find they are rushed by the lights at the Algonquin-Preston intersection and would like a review of the timer of those lights.

Those lights are synced with many others along the Connecting Link.  Those going east/west along Algonquin have 60 seconds, while going across the main artery only goes for 30 seconds.

Councillor Pat Bamford suggested putting in a longer countdown clock, so pedestrians know at any time how long they have to get across.

He adds messing around the synchronization with the other lights could be costly.

A report on the 21km stretch, including options at this intersection will come back later this year.
