A panel of 31 (including a fan vote) ranked the players, and a couple area legends made the list.

Tim Horton of Cochrane was tops around Northern Ontario, coming 6th on the list while Schumacher’s own Frank Mahovlich came in at #9.

Dave Keon was #1 on the list, while Syl Apps and Ted Kennedy rounded out the top 3.

Here’s where other locals ranked on the list:

  • Allan Stanley (23rd)
  • Bill Barilko (36th)
  • Gus Mortson (56th) *born in New Liskeard but spent his sunset years in Timmins
  • Bob Nevin (64th)

According to a release from the Maple Leafs, each committee member submitted a ranked list with a first-place rank garnering 100 points and a 100th place rank receiving one point. 191 of 949 eligible players received at least one vote.
