**TIMMINS POLICE SERVICE NEWS RELEASE**


The Timmins Police Service has charged a local young person with a number of
Criminal Code offences stemming from an incident that occurred at a Wende Street residence
during the afternoon hours of Wednesday, August 19th

Responding Timmins Police Service officers completed a thorough investigation into the
incident where the suspect caused $500.00 damage to a garage window and a motorized
scooter.

The suspect then proceeded to enter into a physical altercation with a 56 year old man by
striking him and uttering a threat of violence towards him.
The suspect was identified, located, and arrested at the scene by responding Timmins Police
officers..

As a result of the incident, a 13 year old male young person who cannot be named in keeping
with the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been charged with:
– Assault contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Mischief Under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Utter Threats contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused was held in police custody and is currently awaiting a bail hearing slated for this
morning at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against him.
