**TIMMINS POLICE SERVICE NEWS RELEASE**


The Timmins Police Service is in the midst of completing its investigation into a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian that occurred yesterday afternoon.

The collision occurred at the intersection of Birch Street and Algonquin Blvd where the driver of a vehicle struck a 30 year old male pedestrian who had ventured out into the roadway contrary to lit pedestrian traffic controls.

The pedestrian was transported to Timmins and District Hospital by ambulance for treatment for serious but non-life threatening injuries.

As a result of the investigation, traffic flows in the immediate area of the intersection were halted until approximately 4:30 yesterday afternoon.

Based on the investigation, the driver of the vehicle has been determined to be not at fault in this collision.
The Timmins Police Service wish to remind all pedestrians to be mindful of their obligations to comply with intersection related pedestrian traffic controls that are in place to enhance public safety.
