**PORCUPINE HEALTH UNIT NEWS RELEASE**

DAILY COVID-19 UPDATE FOR THURSDAY, MAY 21, 2020

There have been no new positive cases in the Porcupine Health Unit (PHU) area in the last 10 days. The total number of confirmed positive cases is 65, 4 of which remain active. For more information, see phu.fyi/coronavirus.

Thanks to everyone’s efforts, we’re seeing days without new COVID-19 cases. But please let’s not forget what got us here. Continue to stay home as much as possible, send only one member per family to run errands when possible, wash hands frequently and maintain a physical distance of 2 metres when you are out. If you are not well, stay home. Anyone with symptoms, even if they are mild, should call their health care provider or the health unit for a referral to an Assessment Centre.

In addition to continuing to follow these recommendations, the Chief Medical Officer of Health and other health experts are now recommending that individuals wear a face covering where physical distancing is not possible, such as on public transit or in a small grocery store or pharmacy. To learn more about how to properly wear, clean and dispose of face coverings, visit: https://bit.ly/2XfGLpT. For instructions on how to make your own face coverings, visit: https://bit.ly/2WNK9t6. Medical masks, such as surgical and N95 masks, should be reserved for use by health care workers, those providing direct care, first responders and individuals who are ill and must leave their home for essential reasons such as seeking medical care, picking up medication or groceries.

Our COVID-19 Information line is open today from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Call the toll-free number, 1-800-461-1818, or the PHU office in your community. See phu.fyi/offices for local contact numbers.

Stay home if you are not well. Stay safe. Stay positive!
