**PORCUPINE HEALTH UNIT NEWS RELEASE**

DAILY COVID-19 UPDATE FOR WEDNESDAY, MAY 6, 2020

There has been one new positive case in the PHU area in the last 24 hours: a female in her sixties, tested on May 2 in Timmins. The case is considered part of the institutional outbreak declared yesterday at the Golden Manor. All residents and staff were tested on the weekend as part of the COVID-19 surveillance testing in long-term care homes supported by the PHU across the region. The case is currently practicing self-isolation. The risk of infection in the long-term care home remains low.

The current number of confirmed positive cases is now 62. As of yesterday, over 2,476 COVID-19 tests have been completed in our region. For more information, visit phu.fyi/coronavirus.

The health unit continues to work with all 10 Long Term Cares Homes in our region to complete the surveillance testing of residents and staff by May 15, 2020. So far this week, 678 tests have been done in 4 of the facilities. The other facilities are scheduled to complete testing this week and next week.
