**TIMMINS POLICE SERVICE NEWS RELEASE**


The Timmins Police Service has charged a local man and woman with a assault related offences stemming from a disturbance at a Pine Street South residence which occurred during the noon hour of Thursday, February 12th.
A trio of suspects attended the residence on Pine Street South and proceeded to damage a parked vehicle on the property.

The occupant of the residence came forward to confront the trio and was assaulted with bear spray.
The disturbance continued as the suspects pursued the victim as he attempted to withdraw into his residence.
Damage to the residence occurred during the fracas.

All three suspects fled the scene as they became aware that the police had been called to respond to the scene.
Responding Timmins Police Service officers located a male and a female suspect a short distance from the scene and proceeded to arrest both of them.

A weapon was located on the male suspect’s person and he provided a false name during the arrest.
Based on the outcome of the investigation, Dean NAVEAU, 26, and Debbie Armande BASTIEN, 43, both of Timmins, have been charged with:
– Break and Enter contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Assault with a Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– 2 counts of Mischief to property Under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

NAVEAU is further charged with additional counts of:
– Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Personation With Intent to Avoid Arrest contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Fail to Comply with release Documents contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

NAVEAU remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against him.

BASTIEN has been released from police custody on the strength of an Undertaking with strict conditions including that she attend Provincial Court in Timmins on March 24th to answer to the charges laid against her.

The Timmins Police Service is seeking an Arrest Warrant for the third suspect in regards to his involvement in the assaultive disturbance.
