Gilles_BissonThe ongoing investigation of Hydro One could be a key piece of Tuesday’s annual report from Ombudsman Andre Marin.

A media release says the report will “review the accomplishments of the Ombudsman’s Office in the past year and updates recent and ongoing investigations.”

Timmins-James Bay MPP Gilles Bisson says the big piece will probably be about the over 10,000 billing error-related complaints to Marin’s office.

“There was a whole bunch of people that received bills that were way above what they were supposed to be, or didn’t get their bills at all,” he said.

Bisson adds another part of it will be how the government “muffed up” when it came to the new billing systems.

“The government, though hydro, was trying to collect money where quite frankly they have no business trying to collect,” he added.

Another piece of the Hydro One puzzle in this could be the issue of privatization, and the fallout from it.

“The privacy commissioner, the Ombudsman, the integrity commissioner, all the officers of the house have signed a letter saying what the government is doing is unprecedented,” Bisson says about the government’s decision to remove access to any information on the sale of Hydro One.

“They’ve taken away all oversight on the sale of Hydro One and the privatization scheme so that nobody is able to take a look at what the government is doing when it comes to selling off a Crown asset that’s owned by you and I, the people of Ontario.”

A news conference is scheduled for 11:00am, and can be seen live at the Ombudsman’s WEBSITE.
