The City of Timmins wishes to advise all residents that EFFECTIVE WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 7 AT 8AM TO SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 10 AT MIDNIGHT, a total outdoor watering ban is issued for all areas of Timmins, including: Mountjoy, Timmins, Schumacher, McDonald Lake, South Porcupine and Porcupine.

This ban is necessary to undertake critical construction activities at the Timmins Water Filtration Plant Blending Chamber. This stage of construction will require multiple shutdowns. This preventative measure will ensure adequate water supply for regular operations and fire protection, safeguarding the health and wellbeing of all residents.

The ban includes, but is not limited to, lawn watering, the use of sprinklers, washing of cars, filling of swimming pools, or other recreational activities that include the use of water. Only hand watering of plants and gardens will be allowed during the outside water ban.

For watering of new sod, a Water Ban Exemption Permit is required, and can be obtained from the City of Timmins’ Engineering Department.

The Hollinger and Porcupine Lake Water Parks will unfortunately be closed during this period of time to preserve water in the case of an emergency.

This ban will be strictly enforced by the City of Timmins. We thank everyone for their compliance and understanding of this very important matter, and apologize for any inconvenience this restriction may cause.

Water is a precious resource, and we ask all consumers to continue practicing water conservation both at home and at work.

If you have questions or concerns regarding this ban, please call Public Utilities at 705-360-2646.
