summer concert series

It was another successful year for the Summer Concert Series.

Manager of Tourism Guy Lamarche penned the following note to residents and sponsors, giving his thanks.

“The 2016 edition of Summer Concert Series has come to an end and by all accounts, this year’s event was again a resounding success,” he said.

“Over a 10 week period many residents and visitors made their way to Hollinger Park, and on four occasions, to Bannerman Park, to enjoy free music featuring 37 bands all with a connection to the City.

The weekly event proved popular for the residents who call Timmins home or those visiting the City of Timmins from southern Ontario, Quebec, British Colombia, Nova Scotia, USA and Germany. Many more living in nearby communities made the trip to our City week after week to enjoy first rate, homegrown talent while supporting the City’s hospitality industry and retail sector.

A special thank you goes out to event co-host, Midnight Express who supplied complimentary sound, week- in and week-out and to our title sponsors Hollinger Park Series: James Toyota, HGS, La Caisse Populaire de Timmins and Bannerman Park Series: Goldcorp, Lake Shore Gold, HGS, Porcupine Hardware, Lloyd Richards Moving, Creviers East End Service, Rubino Holdings, Tisdale Plumbing & Heating, Giant Tiger, Scotia Bank, McIntyre Coffee Shop and Rozteck.

Your generous contribution allowed us to feature 14 concert nights over a 10 week period.

Thanks to Timmins Police Service for assisting with the weekly surveys through support from the Youth in Policing Initiative.

I want to thank our local media for providing unpaid media allowing us the benefit of promoting this event each and every week to residents of Timmins and those living in the Greater Timmins Area. A special thank you to 92.1 Rock and KISS FM for MCing the 14 nights of music and for providing complimentary water, soft drinks and snacks!

Thanks to all of the participating musicians for making this event the success that it is. I hope that your participation in the Summer Concert Series will open doors and provide you with added exposure as you go forward with your musical careers.

Finally, thanks to everyone who took time to attend and support, through a voluntary admission, the 2 food banks. Your open hearts have hopefully nourished many young minds as they return to school!”
