**PORCUPINE HEALTH UNIT NEWS RELEASE**

There have been no new positive cases in the Porcupine Health Unit (PHU) area since June 21, 2020. The current number of confirmed positive cases is now 67. No cases are currently active, but COVID-19 is still circulating. Continue to follow public health measures to stay well.

Yesterday, a new weekly epidemiology update was released which includes analysis of cases reported up to Monday. As of Monday, the PHU area had a total of 67 cases of COVID-19. Of these, 44.8% were male and 55.2% female. The breakdown of the cases by age groups is 6.0% for ages 19 and under; 19.4% for ages 20 to 39; 25.4% for ages 40-59; 38.8% 60-79; and 10.4% for ages 80 and over. Almost half (49.2%) of individuals with COVID-19 were aged 60 and over. For specifics, refer to this week’s epidemiology update on our website.

COVID-19 can be spread from infected individuals who have a few or no symptoms and are unaware that they may be infected. To help protect everyone, the health unit is strongly recommending wearing a face covering when in public places, especially in places where physical distancing is challenging like the grocery store, pharmacies, and while using the transit. Whether an infected person has symptoms or not, non-medical masks or face coverings can help to trap the COVID-19 virus and protect people around you. Some people are unable to wear a face covering or may choose not to wear a non-medical mask. In these cases, be kind and protect yourself by maintaining physical distancing.

Our COVID-19 Information line is open today from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Call the toll-free number, 1-800-461-1818 or the PHU office in your community. See our office listings for local contact numbers.

Stay home if you have symptoms. Stay safe.
