**CITY OF TIMMINS NEWS RELEASE**

While Timmins Transit continues to provide an enhanced Sunday Service level at no cost to the public, further service adjustments must be made in light of some passengers choosing to ignore physical distancing requirements on various routes. For this reason, effective Friday, May 22, 2020, seating on our conventional buses will have selected seating cordoned off from public use.

Ashish Patel, Operations Supervisor, advises that “this will result in limiting passenger capacity to a maximum of 15 on our buses”. The public is reminded that Transit Services should be used for essential travel only and all passengers must respect the minimum 2 m (6 ft) physical distancing.

Fred Gerrior, Manager of Transit Services, stated that “this means if buses are at capacity, passengers should make adjustments to their travel plans or consider catching the next available bus where safe physical distancing can be maintained.”

Transit staff will continue to monitor operations and may make further service adjustments as needed in order to protect the health and safety of our customers and staff during this ongoing pandemic.
