**PORCUPINE HEALTH UNIT NEWS RELEASE**

DAILY COVID-19 UPDATE FOR TUESDAY, APRIL 14, 2020

There have been no new positive cases in the PHU area in the last 24 hours. The current number of confirmed positive cases is now 39. As of yesterday, over 730 COVID-19 tests have been completed in our region, 158 are pending, and 21 cases have been resolved. COVID-19 is circulating in our area.

Following this difficult long weekend, Medical Officer of Health Dr. Catton urges everyone to continue to “work together to stop the spread of COVID-19.” Limit gatherings to just your immediate household, and avoid travelling between communities for visiting. Only go out if absolutely necessary to pick up groceries, prescriptions or go to a medical appointment. Do not visit hospitals or Long-Term Care homes.

Today the Porcupine Health Unit COVID-19 Information line is open from 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Call the toll-free number, 1-800-461-1818, or the PHU office in your community. See www.phu.fyi/offices for local contact numbers.

There are now COVID-19 Assessment Centres in Kapuskasing, Timmins, Cochrane, Iroquois Falls and Hornepayne. Please note that you require an appointment. Complete the revised online Self-Assessment tool (https://covid-19.ontario.ca/self-assessment/) and follow its directions.

You can go for a walk if you:
• Have not been diagnosed with COVID-19
• Do not have symptoms of COVID-19
• Have not travelled outside of Canada in the past 14 days
• Go alone or with a member of your household
If you go out for a walk, do not congregate and always practice physical (social) distancing by keeping at least 2 metres apart from others at all times.

Keep physically distant, but socially close. Stay home if you’re feeling ill. Wash your hands often. Stop the spread.

Stay home, stay well, stay kind. We’re all in this together.
