**TIMMINS POLICE SERVICE NEWS RELEASE**


The Timmins Police Service has arrested charged a local person with Breach of Recognizance stemming from an early morning incident in the north end of the city.

While completing patrols of a residential area in the vicinity of Sixth Avenue and Pine Street North, a Timmins Police Service officer recognized a man as being a person who has been charged with recent robberies.

Upon interviewing the man, it was determined that he was bound by a strict curfew as part of his bail conditions in keeping with his release prior to trial for the robbery related charges that he currently faces.

During the early morning hours of Saturday, March 28th, and again on Tuesday, March 31st, this man is alleged to have committed two separate robberies at a local Algonquin Blvd gas station in Timmins.

Based on the outcome of the investigations by the Timmins Police Service – Criminal Investigations Division, Kevin VIENO, 32, of Timmins, Ontario, was arrested on April 4th and charged with:
– 2 counts of Robbery with a Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

– 2 counts of Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

– 1 count of Assault with a Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada – 2 counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

– 2 counts of Carrying a Concealed Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. – one count of Use a Disguise While Committing an Indictable Offence contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused remained in police custody for the purposes of a bail hearing which took place at Provincial Court in Timmins on April 7th.

At that hearing, he was released from custody on a Recognizance, with strict curfew conditions imposed by the Provincial Court requiring him to remain in his residence at all times.

Less than 48 hours later, VIENO was arrested this morning based on his breaching of his curfew conditions imposed upon him by the Provincial Court in Timmins.

He remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins.
