**Environment Canada Weather Statement**

  • Timmins – Cochrane – Iroquois Falls

Significant snowfall expected Thursday evening into Friday.

An approaching low pressure system will track over Lake Huron late Thursday bringing snow to Northern Ontario. Snow will begin over the area Thursday afternoon and become heavier through the evening. Snow may mix with rain Thursday evening. Snow will continue into Friday before gradually weakening Friday evening.

Total snowfall amounts of 10 to 20 cm are expected.

There remains some uncertainty in the exact track of this low and the precipitation associated with it. Should the low take a slightly more northerly track than anticipated, more of the precipitation will fall as rain and lower snowfall amounts will result. Snowfall warnings may be required as the situation becomes more clear.

Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions Thursday evening into Friday.
