**CITY OF TIMMINS NEWS RELEASE**


The Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund (OCIF) grant received by the City of Timmins for 2020 is $905,873, up from $869,307 in 2019.

The OCIF, as part of the government’s Plan to Build Ontario Together, is intended for communitites with populations under 100,000, as well as all rural and northern communities.

“The OCIF can be used for capital expenditures on core infrastructure projects that are part os the City’s Asset Management Plan, which can include roads, water and wastewater projects,” explained City of Timmins CAO Dave Landers.

“In 2019, the OCIF was used to finance the water infrastructure lining project on Gatineau Boulevard. In 2020, the City will direct the OCIF towards its core infrastructure projects, namely lining projects as well as a significant construction project on the next phase of the Connecting Link.”

“As a City, we are pleased with the early announcement of these funds,” added Mayor George Pirie. “Those dollars will play a critical role in addressing some of our critical instrastructure needs.”
