Crunch vs Rock game postponed hours before warm up due to tragic news

The NOJHL had posted this release a few hours before the Timmins Rock and the Cochrane Crunch were set to clash for another exciting game.

The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League announced late this afternoon that out of respect for Ryan and Katherine Leonard, tonight’s (Thursday, Jan. 16) contest at Tim Horton Events Centre between the Timmins Rock and the Cochrane Crunch has been postponed.

A make up date for this contest will be announced by the league once it is finalized.

The Crunch later posted on twitter that the son of Head Coach/General Manager Ryan Leonard was involved in a serious car accident.

Please keep the Leonard family in your thoughts and prayers! At 5pm tonight they received a parents worse nightmare, news that their son was in a terrible car accident and had been flown to Hamilton Ontario. We have no other update at this time.

There have been no further update since then, and now the Rock’s next game is scheduled for Saturday January 18 as they’ll host the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners.
