The Timmins Rock were in a back to back situation, and were taking on the Elliot Lake WildCats and the Blind River Beavers.

The Rock were deemed one of the most dominant teams in the NOJHL on paper at the beginning of the season, and that had yet to be seen. Now almost 30 games into the season, it’s safe to say the team has reached its peaking point.

In their 10-0 win over the WildCats on Friday November 22, the Rock had 6 different goal scorers! The Rock were leading 4-0 after 20 minutes of play and the goals were scored by: Karter Renouf, who had two goals in the contest, Josh Dickson who also had two goals in that game, Evan Beaudry, and Derek Seguin, who also decided one goal wasn’t good enough for him… he had two on the night as well. Phil Caron was in on the fun too, he scored a goal in the second and third period.

The Rock not only made that game a high scoring one but, they also turned it into a shooting gallery. The Rock out shot the WildCats 71-18! Vance Meyer made all 18 stops for the Rock and recorded his fourth shutout of the season, making him the league leading goaltender in shutouts, and right behind him in second is his teammate Ty Masternak, who has three.

Then the Rock drove up to Blind River to take on the Beavers, and the last time these two met, the Rock beat them 5-0. This time it was a different story… The Beavers had home ice advantage and no road legs, they were ready and they made a game out of it.

The Rock were only able to score two goals in that game, and those goals came from: Karter Renouf who stayed red hot, and the second goal came from Riley Brousseau.

Special teams were a problem for the Beavers when they took on the Rock at the Mac, but this time they had some success. The Rock had four power play opportunities and the Beavers killed off all of them. The Beavers, also had four power play opportunities of their own and they managed to capitalize on one of their chances which eventually brought them within one.

The Rock were able to hold them off, and recorded a 2-1 win. The Beavers did take it to the Rock, and Ty Masternak had to be sharp in that contest as he faced 47 shots, and the Beavers managed to only squeak one past him; Meanwhile the Rock were held to 37 shots, which is actually considered low if you look at their previous games played.

The Rock are known to dominate their opponent, but the level they’re on now is scary. The Rock are averaging almost over 50 shots per game, and whether they win or lose, they still find a way to make you go “WOW”.

The Rock will be back on home ice Tuesday November 26 to take on the visiting Cochrane Crunch and will look to put their dominance on display once again. Tickets for that game are available online at TimminsRock.Com.
