On Saturday November 16 the Santa Claus Parade will take over the downtown core, and there’s a chance that we could see up to over 50 floats in this year’s parade.

“It’s always a big parade; we attract about 15,000 people, and we have about a 1000 volunteers. Every year it’s quite exciting because it is in the night time, so it’s quite special. We were supposed to have registrations closed on Friday November 1st, but since there’s so much talent and registrations, we’ve decided to keep registrations open for a couple more days (Wednesday Novemeber 6).” -Noella Rinaldo Executive Director Downtown BIA.

Due to the Parade there will be some road closures, but it will be nothing new, because the route of the parade is the same as previous years.

Here’s how the route will work :

This year, the Post Office will be involved in the parade, and it will be to collect letters for Santa.

“We encourage the kids to write letters, as they will be picked up by the dancing mailboxes, and they will get an answer from Santa.” -Said Rinaldo.

You can also bring non perishable food items, as the Timmins Rock will be in the parade and picking them up for the local food banks.

Here are the main things to remember: The Parade will start at 6:00PM, so expect roads to start being closed off by 5:00-5:30PM. If your child did write a letter to Santa, bring it to the parade, You can bring non perishable food items, and donate them, dress warm because it’s likely going to be cold, and Last but not least…. have FUN!
