**CITY OF TIMMINS NEWS RELEASE**

The City of Timmins has received notice that its provincial funding through the Ontario Municipal Partnership Fund (OMPF) has increased by $303,500 for 2020.

The Province has announced a $500 million investment in 389 municipalities across Ontario for the 2020 budget year with Timmins receiving $10,361,500 – an increase from the 2019 contribution of $10,058,000.

“This is extremely good news for the City of Timmins,” said Mayor Pirie.

“Representatives from our community met with the government during the Association of Municipalities of Ontario’s annual conference in Ottawa back in August, and we are pleased with their response to our concerns. The government committed to maintain the structure of the OMPF program for 2020, and are living up to that commitment. Not only did they maintain the structure, as promised, we also did not see much fluctuation in funding, in fact, ours has been increased. Successful efforts were also made in pushing up the timelines, allowing communities more opportunity to include this valuable funding into our budget processes.”
