**TIMMINS POLICE SERVICE NEWS RELEASE**


The Timmins Police Service has charged a local man with a number of Criminal Code offences stemming from an assaultive altercation which occurred during an adult ball hockey game on Wednesday, July 10th.

The Timmins Police Service responded to a complaint received where it is alleged one player struck an opposing team’s player resulting in significant injury to the aggrieved party.
It is further alleged that the player then uttered threats to the injured man and his sibling in the course of the altercation.

Based on the outcome of the investigation, Eric CARRIER, 29, of Timmins, has been charged with:
– Aggravated Assault contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– 2 counts of Utter Threats contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The man was taken into police custody after the matter was thoroughly investigated.
The accused was released from custody on strict conditions to keep the peace and be of good behavior and to attend Provincial Court in Timmins on August 27th to answer to the charges laid against him.
