**KIRKLAND LAKE OPP NEWS RELEASE**


On April 5, 2019, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Kirkland Lake Detachment responded to a complaint of sexual offences against two young people, which had occurred in the Town of Kirkland Lake, Ontario.  

As a result of the investigation, three people were charged.  

A 35-year-old male from Kirkland Lake, Ontario, was charged with the following:  

 

  • Sexual Assault on Person Under 16 Years of Age, contrary to section 271 of the Criminal Code (CC),
  • Sexual Interference, contrary to section 151 of the CC,
  • Invitation to Sexual Touching under 16 Years of Age, contrary to section 152 of the CC,
  • Voyeurism, contrary to section 162(1) of the CC,
  • Makes, Prints, Publishes or Possess for the Purpose of Publication any Child Pornography (two counts), contrary to section 163.1(2) of the CC,
  • Imports, Distributes, Sells or Possess for the Purpose of Distributing or Sale any Child Pornography, contrary to section 163.1(3) of the CC, and
  • Incest, contrary to section 155 of the CC.

 

A 33-year-old female from Kirkland Lake, Ontario, was charged with the following: 

 

  • Sexual Assault on Person Under 16 Years of Age, contrary to section 271 of the (CC), and
  • Makes, Prints, Publishes or Possess for the Purpose of Publication any Child Pornography, contrary to section 163.1(2) of the CC.

 

A 27-year-old male from Kirkland Lake, Ontario, was charged with the following: 

 

  • Sexual Assault on Person Under 16 Years of Age, contrary to section 271 of the (CC),
  • Sexual Interference, contrary to section 151 of the CC,
  • Invitation to Sexual Touching under 16 Years of Age, contrary to section 152 of the CC, and
  • Makes, Prints, Publishes or Possess for the Purpose of Publication any Child Pornography, contrary to section 163.1(2) of the CC.

 

All three accused have been remanded into custody, pending bail. 

The OPP will not be releasing the names in order to protect the identity of the victims.
