**KIRKLAND LAKE OPP NEWS RELEASE**’


On Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2019, officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB), the North East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), the North East Region Canine Unit (K9) and members of the Kirkland Lake and Temiskaming OPP Detachments, executed a search warrant on Rodgers Road in Pacaud Township, Ontario. 

Police seized a prohibited weapon and drugs suspected to be fentanyl (Purple H), methamphetamine and opioids with an estimated street value of $6,500.  

As a result of the police investigation, the OPP has charged two people.

Curtis Woollings, age 27, of Pacaud Township, Ontario, is charged with the following:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Heroin/Fentanyl, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA),
  • Possession of a Scheduled I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Opioid, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA,
  • Possession of a Scheduled I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA,
  • Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order, contrary to section 117.01(1) of the Criminal Code (CC), and
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon, contrary to section 91(2) of the CC.

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing and is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Temiskaming Shores, Ontario, on Feb. 6, 2019. 

Karen Piche, age 36, of St-Felix De Dalquier, Quebec, is charged with the following:

  • Possession of a Scheduled I Substance – Methamphetamine, contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA,
  • Possession of a Scheduled I Substance – Opioid – contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA, and
  • Fail to Comply with Undertaking, contrary to section 145(3) of the CC.

She was released on a Recognizance of Bail to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Kirkland Lake, Ontario, on March 21, 2019.
