An unresponsive man was found in a local McDonald’s this morning by Timmins Police, and he was later declared dead.

The police responded to a call for a man in medical distress at the fast food location, and when officers arrived at the scene, he had no active vital signs. He was transported to Timmins and District Hospital where he was pronounced as deceased.

Police maintained control of the scene where the man was located for a short time to complete investigative tasks with use of Forensic Identification Officers and Crime Scene Protection Officers.

Marc Depatie, Communications Coordinator for Timmins Police, says the police do not suspect foul play at this time. There were also no obvious signs of trauma to the person. Police are expecting a postmortem to be conducted in the next few days, which will provide more evidence for the direction the investigation will take.

Police say there are no signs of immediate trauma. They will be relying on the findings of the Forensic Identification Unit to gain more information about the cause of death.

The person found was male and in his fifties. Depatie said he was “known to police.”

More details are expected to be released by Timmins Police in the coming days.
