MEDIA RELEASE – December 31st, 2018

(TIMMINS) The Timmins Police Service has charged a local man in relation to an allegation of attempted murder which eventually led to his arrest.
The Timmins Police Service attended to a person in distress at a local business during the early morning hours of Sunday, December 30th and began their investigation into a series of offences allegedly committed by a suspect who was identified to them.

The investigation became the responsibility of the Timmins Police Service’s Criminal Investigation Division in order to complete the more intensive aspects of the investigation into the events.

The suspect was identified and located by the Timmins Police Service and taken into custody. As a result, Kyle LINEKAR, 22, of Timmins has been charged with:

– Attempt to Commit Murder contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Aggravated Assault (2 counts) contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Assault With a Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Assault contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Sexual Assault (2 counts) contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Sexual Assault with a Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Utter Threats (3 counts) contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Theft Under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Mischief Under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Killing or Injuring an Animal contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

 

The accused remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing.
