Rocktober rocked out and wrapped up this Wednesday.

The local music event, hosted by the Working Class and 92.1 ROCK, shined the light on local musicians and local charities and non-profits. Some of the local charities that were supported through Rocktober include The Seizure and Brain Injury Centre, the Timmins and District Hospital Foundation, Project Love, and Noah Charbonneau, a local 7 yr.-old boy diagnosed with Urine Reflux and Acute Kidney Failure.

Local musicians took the stage at the weekly event, with acts from artists like Wyatt Young, Laforge, Kickback Tracii, Shaun Melanson, Cindy Doire from Scarlett Jane, and Nathan Radey from All the Wasted Years. Even 92.1 ROCK and KiSS 99.3’s very own Angelie Lynn took the stage.

Now that the inaugural event has come to a close for 2018, the numbers are in for how much was raised and given back to local charities, non-profits and those in need in Timmins.

Over the course of four live shows, Rocktober raised $2,261.70. The funds were collected through entry fees to the music shows, and a draw that took place each week. Rocktober ended with a real bang on its final night, with a nearly sold out show supporting Noah Charbonneau.

The organizers of Rocktober are thanking everyone who came out and contributed to this successful event. They’re also thanking everyone who performed and helped organize the event.

With a successful total of over $2,200 raised for local charities and those in need in just four nights in October, organizers of the local event are hopeful that Timmins will be rocking out again next October.
