This week, we are featuring platform highlights from the Ward Councillor candidates in the upcoming election. Our stations have reached out to each Councillor candidate to outline their platform for listeners. This is Ward 5 Councillor candidate Rick Dubeau’s submitted platform.

I will continue to advocate for Responsibility, Accountability and Transparency for Council and staff. 

Council must be more responsible with the taxpayer’s monies.  Our focus must be on the infrastructure which we know is in dire need of repair. 

Council and staff must be held accountable for their decisions.  I would support the Implementation of a committee system.  This would allow for Council to be better informed on all issues and would put the responsibility squarely on Council.

Council must be transparent with the taxpayers.  No more passing of items in one night without proper consultation.  The taxpayers of Timmins deserve to know where there representatives stand on all issues, not pass important or contentious issues without stating why.  I will continue to voice my opinion so that you know where I stand.

I will support the retention and creation of good paying jobs and work to diversify our economy.   I will bring forth a motion to develop an agricultural strategy for the City.   Northern Communities around the world are growing fruits and vegetables year round, why can’t we? There are significant government monies and technical support available.  This will create significant employment.
