**TIMMINS PUBLIC LIBRARY NEWS RELEASE**

In July 2017, community members introduced four Great Book Boxes around the city. The book box concept is simple: take a book, return a book and/or donate a book. The committee has been hard at work, and is pleased to announce that two new boxes have been installed at the following locations:

? White Waterfront (South Porcupine)
? Roy Nicholson Park (Pine/Eighth)

One more box should be installed in the coming weeks at W. Earle Miller Public School (Victoria Ave.)

The Porcupine Book Club has been the lead in this project, with the goal of promoting a love of reading throughout the community and the Timmins Public Library is pleased to support this initiative. The boxes are filled with all types of books for adults and children, fiction and non-fiction and are monitored by local volunteers. Books are available in French and English as well as in other languages, depending on what is being donated.

Once again this year, the boxes have been designed by local citizen Norm Beaudry and constructed by high school students under the leadership of TH&VS shop teacher Barry Trebilcock. Members of the Porcupine Art Club, under the creative direction of Ted O’Connor were responsible for painting the boxes.

This project has been a community effort, involving the Porcupine Book Club, TH&VS, the Porcupine Art Club, the Timmins Native Friendship Centre, the Timmins Public Library and some interested citizens. This year, Timmins Building Supplies donated all the construction material required.
