**NORTHERN COLLEGE MEDIA RELEASE**


Two area residents have been appointed to the Northern College Board of Governors. Cathy Ellis from Iroquois Falls and Jeff Molyneaux of Kirkland Lake will assume duties at the first meeting of the college’s Board of Governors  Friday, September 14, 2018.

Cathy Ellis has extensive knowledge and experience in economic and community development. With knowledge acquired over a 35 year career, she brings varied experience in project management, with government, business and the not for profit sector.

For the past 18 years Jeff Molyneaux has held various management and senior management positions in manufacturing environments. Since 2015, Molyneaux has served as Executive Director and CEO of the Materials Joining Innovation Centre in Kirkland Lake, a not for profit innovation centre with a mandate to improve the welding industry in Canada through innovation and the application of technology.

“Governors are appointed for an initial three-year term and may be reappointed for an additional three-years,” explained Dr. Fred Gibbons, President and CEO of Northern College. “With the expiration of the terms of appointment for Board Chair, Al Spacek and First Vice-Chair, Rock Foy due to take effect on August 31st, our Board of Governors confirmed the appointments of its two newest members recently,” said Gibbons.

Northern College’s Board of Governors is comprised of 17 members representing the regional geographic area that Northern College serves. Other members include: George Pirie, Timmins; Doug Walsh, Temiskaming Shores; Domenic Rizzuto, Timmins; Carly Stringer, Timmins; Lois Kozak, Englehart; Bill Allan, Iroquois Falls; Dorothy Larkman, Matachewan; Pat McConnell, Timmins; Gail Waghorn, Matheson;  Irene Tomatuk, Moose Factory; Johanne Carbonneau, Timmins; Eric Poulin, Timmins; Mitch Dumas, Timmins; college student Renee Desgagnes and Northern College President, Dr. Fred Gibbons.
