**CITY OF TIMMINS MEDIA RELEASE**


The City of Timmins is now accepting applications for officials to work the upcoming Municipal Election on October 22, 2018.

Applicants are encouraged to indicate their preference to work as a Deputy Returning Officer (DRO), Poll Clerk or Election Assistant.

Associated duties are as follows:

– DRO: The election or referendum officer who supervises a polling station. The deputy returning officer’s tasks include making decisions about a person’s eligibility to vote, counting the ballots and certifying the results.

– Poll Clerk: The election officer who assists the deputy returning officer at a polling station by checking to see if a person’s name is on the list of electors and by dealing with the paperwork.

– Election Assistant: The election assistant is responsible for working closely with and supporting the Clerk and DRO in the conduct of the Municipal Election by assisting in the coordination of people, materials and equipment necessary to implement the election. Receive and respond to questions from the public with regard to voter registration and the voting process, and all other duties as assigned by the Clerk.

The application form can be found on the City’s website, or interested parties may stop by the Clerk’s Department on the second floor of City Hall during regular business hours to apply.
