**TEMISKAMING OPP NEWS RELEASE**

A member of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was on patrol conducting speed enforcement on July 18, 2018 at approximately 11:17 p.m. 

Police observed a vehicle travelling northbound at a high rate of speed, on Highway 11 in Temiskaming Shores, Ontario. The vehicle was stopped and the driver is facing charges. 

 

The 51-year-old driver, Thomas COCHRANE, of Swastika, Ontario is charged with:

 

  • Stunt Driving – Speeding by 50 or more kilometres per hour, contrary to section 172(1) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA), and
  • Driving while under suspension, contrary to section 53(1) of the HTA.

 

The vehicle was towed from the scene and impounded for 7 days. The driver was released by way of summons. He is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on October 11, 2018, in Haileybury, Ontario.
