**OPP NEWS RELEASE**


Members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with Temiskaming Ambulance Services, responded to a motor vehicle collision on June 14, 2018 shortly after 8:15 a.m.   

The collision occurred on Highway 11 south of Latchford, Ontario. A northbound tractor trailer lost control, resulting in the commercial motor vehicle striking the shoulder and flipping on its side, in the eastbound ditch.  The trailer’s contents spilled onto the roadway and required the highway to be closed.

 The Ministry of the Environment (MOE) attended to assist, along with Cobalt Car Clinic to clean up the spill.

The driver and passenger of the northbound tractor trailer were transported to hospital with minor injuries. No other motor vehicle was involved.

The male driver, 41-year-old Rahul BAJAJ from Winnipeg, Manitoba has been charged with:

  • Careless driving, contrary to section 130 of the Highway Traffic Act (H.T.A), and
  • Unsafe move – lane or shoulder, contrary to section 154(1)(a) of the HTA.

 

Highway 11 was fully re-opened at approximately 10:30 a.m.
