Nurses from the Timmins and District Hospital were at a proclamation and flag raising ceremony this morning outside City Hall. This week is the beginning of National Nursing Week, a time when nurses all over Canada are appreciated for their hard work.

Mayor Steve Black thanked all nurses here in Timmins and across the country for the work they do and the sacrifices they make to ensure residents in their care are healthy and taken care of. The Mayor reflected on his own family members spending time at the Timmins and District Hospital in recent years, and the confidence he’s placed in the nurses that have cared for them.

Jennifer Landers, Bargaining Unit President of the Ontario Nurses Association at TDH says it does feel good to be appreciated for this event. “As much as everybody’s aware of the role that nurses have in the community,” she said, “it’s just nice to be appreciated for it.”
