Timmins Police Service Communications Coordinator told media today that this was a joint effort of the Drug Enforcement Section working with the OPP’s Drug Enforcement Unit and the OPP’s Canine Unit. Timmins Police view drug traders as a threat to the public safety of the community and this benchmark seizure of substances will hopefully cause a sizeable dent in the drug circulation in Timmins. This was an organized crime and Timmins Police are hopeful that this will see a decrease in crimes that can be linked somehow to persons suffering from some form of substance abuse. Crimes that occur as part of the ripple effect of the drug trade in Timmins include family violence, petty thefts, and robberies.

This drug seizure was the result of the Drug Enforcement Officers working 24/7 to keep up with the around the clock drug trade business in Timmins.

The Timmins Police want the general public and the people charged to know that the Police Service is at the public’s service at all times and this type of drug activity will carry serious consequences for those who get involved.
