**TIMMINS FIRE DEPARTMENT NEWS RELEASE**

Deputy Fire Chief Ellard Beaven
Ellard began his career with the Mountjoy station in February 1991, dedicating 3. 5 years with the volunteers. Ellard was hired full time in May 1994. He devoted 14 years to the rank of firefighter until promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in June 2008, which he held for 7 years. During this time Ellard was a member and Chair of the Ontario Fire Service Section 21 committee for health and safety. In August of 2015 he was then promoted to Captain, until his new promotion to rank of Deputy Fire Chief in March 2018. I’m personally looking forward to working directly with Deputy Beaven in the future and wish him the best in his new position.

Captain Gilles Leduc
On behalf of the Timmins Fire Department it is with great admiration that we announce the promotion of Gilles Leduc to the rank of Captain. Gilles began his career as a volunteer firefighter with the Timmins volunteer station in 1993, dedicating 2 years to the volunteer service. Gilles was hired full time in December 1994 and committed 19 years at the rank of firefighter. Gilles was awarded the Medal of Bravery from the Province of Ontario while he was a full time firefighter. Gilles was promoted to Lieutenant in August of 1993; he held this position for 5 years until his promoted to the rank of Captain on April 5, 2018. We wish Captain Leduc all the best in his new role and look forward to working with him in the future.

Lieutenant Kurt Gagain
It is with great pleasure and respect that we announce Kurt Gagain’s promotion to Lieutenant. Kurt Gagain began his firefighting career as a volunteer firefighter with the South Porcupine station in September 1995, dedicating 5 years with the volunteers. He was hired as a full time firefighter in April 2000, and devoted 18 years at the rank of firefighter. While possessing the rank of firefighter he was awarded the Medal of Bravery from the Province of Ontario. Kurt was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on April 7, 2018. On behalf of the Timmins Fire Department we would like to wish Lieutenant Gagain the best in his new rank and look forward to working with him in the future.

 

The Timmins Fire Department is a composite Fire Department that operates 7 Fire Stations; 5 Volunteer Stations, 1 Composite Station and 1 Airport Station. The Fire Department is equipped with a total of 21 pieces of apparatus, 140 Volunteers Firefighters and 34 Career Firefighters.
