On November 20, 2017, police received a report of alleged candy tampering from a Timmins resident.

The resident indicated that a sewing needle was located inside a small chocolate bar that was part of a child’s Halloween candy.

Information received indicates that the child was trick-or-treating in various areas of Timmins including Diane Cres., Gatineau Blvd., College St., Viscount Ave., and Pine St. N. Police are investigating the incident.

Parents and guardians are reminded of the importance of being extra vigilant when checking children’s Halloween candy. If packaging appears to have been tampered with or appears suspicious it should be discarded.
