Just over 70 new jobs will be created in Timmins’ mining supply sector, thanks to a generous grant from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund.

Minister of Northern Development and Mines Michael Gravelle was in Timmins Wednesday to announce over $5-million dollars will be shared among 13 companies to help them grow business and purchase new equipment.

“Our government understands that a competitive, innovative and safe mining sector is essential to positioning our province as the global leader in sustainable mineral development and production,” Gravelle says in a release, “Today’s significant investments in northern mining supply and services businesses will ensure Ontario continues to be the place that the world’s industry turns to for innovations in mining technology.”

INEOS Calabrian will see the biggest impact, to the tune of $2-million dollars for 20 jobs.

Another $1-million dollars will go to The Bucket Shop for eight jobs. OK Tire’s mining division—where a Wednesday press conference was held—will see 11 jobs benefit from just over $275-thousand dollars.

The other companies sharing in the dough include: Day Group ($600,000 for six jobs), Timmins Electric Motors ($504,600 for five jobs), Northern Mining Analytical Laboratory ($200,000 for six jobs), Precision Boring ($137,650 for three jobs), NorWeld Welding & Mechanical Services ($126,222 for six jobs), Steelworks Welding & Fabrication ($66,578 for two jobs) and Conveyors Plus ($42,000 for one job).
