A total of 16 charges have been laid on a Timmins man after a Timmins Police vehicle was stolen Friday afternoon.

An officer responded to a report of a suspicious person near Birch South and Dale Avenue. But during the course of the investigation, the vehicle was stolen.

TPS and OPP conducted a search and the vehicle was located at about 4:30pm near Norman and Lafleur Drive, along with the suspect.

“Officers engaged in a high-risk takedown, and a Conductive Energy Weapon was deployed,” TPS say in a release, “The suspect was safely arrested and has been charged accordingly.”

There were no injuries as a result. 25-year old Tyler Anderson faces the following charges:

  • Theft of a Motor Vehicle
  • Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • Careless Use of a Firearm
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
  • Unauthorized possession of a Restricted Firearm
  • Occupant of a Motor Vehicle Knowing there was a Restricted Weapon
  • Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Weapon, Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Mischief Under $5000
  • Resist Arrest
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
  • Breach of Prohibition Order
  • Breach of Probation (x2)

Anderson was held in custody, and had a bail hearing scheduled for Monday.  No word on the result.
