Timmins to receive $2M in provincial dollars

Timmins and District Hospital is receiving another $2 million dollars.

Don’t let that confuse you with a recent announcement this week that TDH opened an MRI area with a $2 million dollar investment donated by Cochrane’s Marcel and Frances Labelle.

This new investment is coming from the province through the Northeast Local Health Integration Network (LHIN), as part of a $175-million dollar Ontario-wide pledge for this year.

That money comes from the province’s Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund,

The LHIN says in a release that the money will fund infrastructure improvements, “including upgrades or replacements to roofs, windows, heating and air conditioning systems, fire alarms and back-up generators” for hospitals across Ontario.

And it’s not just Timmins that’s getting dollars in our region either.

20 hospitals within the local LHIN will get funding that totals over $9.7 million dollars. That includes hospitals in Cochrane, Iroquois Falls, Matheson, Kapuskasing and Moose Factory.
