A major funding announcement in North Bay is seeing dividends in our area.

The federal government is dishing out over $1.3-million on 15 projects across three municipalities, including two in Kapuskasing.

Kap will receive $58,147 to go towards the purchase of a new accessible bus, which will allow the town to expand their service.  They’ll also receive $15,500 to go towards the refurbishment of a regular transit bus.

Machin, a town in Northwestern Ontario, will benefit from $51,563 to purchase a new replacement bus.

The rest of the announced funding will go towards 12 projects in North Bay.

It’s all part of an agreement between the federal and provincial governments through the Public Transit Infrastructure Fund.
